As of June 30, 2025, the merger that gives rise to Grupo Aeroportuario Marina was formalized, according to an official statement from Mexico City International Airport (AICM)
As a result of this process, AICM remains as the surviving entity under its new commercial name and fully assumes the rights and obligations previously held by Grupo Aeroportuario de la Ciudad de México (GACM) and Servicio Aeroportuario de la Ciudad de México (SACM), in accordance with current regulations.
Airports Under Its Management
With this restructuring, Grupo Aeroportuario Marina will directly manage the following airports:
International:
- Benito Juárez (Mexico City)
- Ciudad del Carmen
- Ciudad Obregón
- Guaymas
- Loreto
- Matamoros
Domestic:
- Colima
In addition, it will take over equity control of Toluca and Cuernavaca international airports, and will continue providing technical, financial, and operational support at San Felipe (international) and Lázaro Cárdenas (domestic), responsibilities previously handled by GACM.
It is anticipated that more airports across the country will gradually be integrated into this expanding airport network.
Operational and Financial Continuity
The statement highlights that all financial commitments backed by AICM’s Airport Use Fee (TUA) will remain in force under the structure of guarantees and payment sources for the four active international bond series managed through the MEXCAT trust (Mexico City Airport Trust).
Purpose of the Merger
The creation of Grupo Aeroportuario Marina aims to improve the quality of airport goods and services, enhance operational efficiency by eliminating redundancies, and foster more profitable, secure, and interconnected airport management. The group seeks to strengthen the strategic role of airport infrastructure in national development.
The new group’s mission is to deliver high-level services with a focus on sustainability, safety, competitiveness, and social well-being, positioning itself as a key player in the country’s global connectivity.
“In this new phase, we will work with empathy, respect, dedication, and professionalism to pursue excellence and become one of the leading airport operators in Mexico and Latin America,” the statement concludes.
Through this transformation, Grupo Aeroportuario Marina aspires to become a solid airport network that connects Mexico to the world—facilitating the movement of people, tourism, and business opportunities both nationally and internationally.
